It's less than a month to go before I move to the UK for a year. Um...okay. I'm working on this one.
The lowdown:
The lowdown:
- I will be attending the University of Buckingham in Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, UK (enough Buckingham for you?). Buckingham is neither related to the palace (see the blog title if you're tempted to crack a joke) nor quite close to London (see geography lesson below). It's a wee town in the country.
- I will be working toward my MA in Security and Intelligence Studies (think FBI, CIA, Homeland Security-type jobs)
- I leave September 19th at 8:45 PM. (FYI: I WILL BE CANCELLING MY PHONE. Please do not call, text, etc. after 8:30 PM on that date...)
As many of you know, I've been all over the place trying to get ready and worrying over lots of random things, but when I stopped to think about it, I do actually have the vast majority of this under control. I have housing for the first term, I have my visa in my passport, I have a direct (VIRGIN ATLANTIC YEAAAAAAAAAAH) flight from MIA to Heathrow, I have a plan for what needs to be done when I get to the UK before class starts, and I have some pretty awesome people who are/have been helping me with all this mess (I'm looking at you, parents).
Left on my to-do list:
- finish going through all my crap and making it clean again
- packing!
- watching the important Doctor Who specials, darnit. I need to see if this Matt Smith character is any good or what...
- buying the last few things (someone please remind me to pick up plug converters or I will cry)
- seeing as many people as possible before I leave
- finishing up Knickers in a Twist (which I suspect will come in very handy, so thanks, Jiichan!)
- making sure that boy of mine knows I love him to pieces :)
Until next post~
